Event details

Preparations are in motion for the 2012 City of Perth Australia Day Skyworks.

Taking place on Australia Day, 26 January, Skyworks is Australia's largest annual community celebration on our National Day.

The theme for the 2012 Skyworks is ‘Celebrating the Australian Spirit’.

Join in with hundreds of thousands of people as we come together to celebrate our Country, our community and family.

Highlights of this year’s event include:
Langley Park Youth Zone

Australian pop rock band Amy Meredith will headline this free concert on Langley Park. The Youth Zone will also have free activities such as paintball and family rides.

Survival Concert – presented by NAIDOC Perth

NAIDOC Perth will present this celebration of Aboriginal heritage and music.
This event will have free admission and will showcase Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander music and dance, along with food, kids’ activities, an Elders’ tent and a large range of community stalls.

AIR BP Air Show and Water Show

The Swan River will play host to a stunning air and water show. This year’s Air BP Air Show will pay tribute to Women of the Air, with some of the Australia’s best female pilots taking part in the show.

BYO Picnic Zone

After their successful introduction last year, the BYO Picnic Zones will return this year. Members of the public will be able to gather on the Esplanade and enjoy live music and free roving entertainment. The second BYO Picnic Zone is in Kings Park. In these two designated areas it will be permitted to bring along a small amount of alcohol to consume while watching the fireworks. (One bottle of wine or a six pack of beer for adults 18 and over, between the hours of 6.30pm and 8.30pm)

2012 Skyworks Pyrotechnic Display

Acclaimed pyrotechnics company Foti Fireworks will again deliver Western Australia’s largest annual fireworks display. Around 30,000 pyrotechnic shots will light up Perth skies at 8pm for this much loved tradition.
