Balmy nights and international cuisine return to the City for…
City of Perth Twilight Hawkers Markets
Every Friday evening (5pm – 8pm) runs until 31 March 2012
* With exception of Friday 11 Nov, 23 Dec and 30 Dec
Friday nights in the City are set to spice up as the City of Perth launches the summer series of Twilight Hawkers Markets in Forrest Place.
Kicking off on Friday 28 October (Queen’s Birthday Public Holiday), the Markets will take place every Friday between 5pm – 8pm until March 2012, taking a short break for a few weeks over the Christmas period when other events will use the space.
Taking advantage our famous summer climate, the Twilight Hawkers Markets will offer visitors to the city the chance to meander through rows of market stalls sampling cuisine from around the globe including Indonesian satays, Spanish paella, Turkish gozlemes, Moroccan tagines and more.
In addition to international street-vendor style foods, visitors to the Markets will be able to kick back and enjoy free live music and roving entertainment.
The City is recommencing the Twilight Hawkers Markets following their immense popularity when first trialled in March 2011 as part of Eat Drink Perth.
Working together with Perth based company Events & Beyond to create the Markets, the idea initially came from Sally Lewis, Director of Events & Beyond and founder of the Subi Farmers Market in Subiaco.
“We are blessed with an abundance of fabulous fresh food, beautiful weather and wonderful musical talent in WA – it seems like the perfect recipe for an outdoor market in the City,” Ms Lewis said.
