McNess Studios
McNess Studios is an artist run studio and project space located in a repurposed building in the Perth CBD.
McNess Studios is a shared creative space located in a repurposed building at 8 Pier Street in the heart of Perth city. Visit www.mcnessstudios.com.
McNess Studios is home to a group of young creative practitioners working across various disciplines. Current residents include illustrator Yasin Goungor, designer Michael Ley, film maker Kenta McGrath, artist Danni McGrath, illustrator Brendan Ninness and designer Stephen Vetten.
The diverse mix of residents in McNess Studios creates an ideal and supportive environment for collaboration. McNess Studios launched in 2009 as an initiative of the Perth Youth Advisory Council and the City of Perth.
During the past six months, the McNess team have been re-branding and re-visioning. Following some major transformations, they are now excited and ready for a fresh approach.
Residents have been busy putting together a program of arts-based projects and events with the aim of increasing McNess’ visibility, sharing their skills with young people and providing a venue to showcase and promote the fledgling members of Perth’s rapidly developing cultural sector.
Most initiatives are free and suitable for young people interested in expanding their horizons and learning more about Perth’s creative community.
The initial program features film screenings, illustration workshops, DIY film making workshops, mural projects and a youth exhibition with mentorships and comic workshops on the cards.
